The furious woman reached the front desk and immediately started raising her voice at Kate. “I want to speak to the owner right now! You have to take this puppy back.”
The demand echoed through the shelter. Kate apologized, trying to calm her down, but by then, the upset customer had already plopped the little pup onto the counter impatiently.
