Bill and Archie followed as the officers led the three men out of the school. Blue and red lights lit up the dark street. Backup had arrived fast. “You did good, Mr. Thompson,” Carter said. “We’ll take it from here.” Bill nodded, overwhelmed. “I just wanted to know why I got fired.”
