At the car, Lilly placed the scarf bundle gently on a folded hoodie in the backseat. “You’ll be okay,” she whispered, though she wasn’t sure it was true.
Stretching her back, she rubbed her arms. Then it returned—that same heavy, suffocating feeling. Someone, or something, was watching her. This time it settled on her stronger than ever.
