Pushing herself up on shaky hands, Suzan called out, “Hello? Who is there?” Her voice cracked as she scanned the bus. Someone had been inside, she was sure of it.
But no answer came. Only the soft crackle of fire filled the clearing. Suzan took a slow step forward, straining her ears for any sign of life.
