Just as they lowered the phone, another splash sounded behind them—softer, but unmistakable. Both spun around. Again, nothing. Only faint ripples fading quickly into the distance.
Whatever caused it seemed able to vanish instantly. Megan frowned. “That’s strange,” she muttered, then forced a smile. “Okay, one more try.”
