The cave stretched wider than either expected, its ceiling vanishing into darkness above. Each step echoed faintly, joined by the drip of water.
The air was damp, clinging to their skin, and shadows twisted as their flashlights flickered. The chain, though, never strayed. Its rusted links cut straight through the cavern floor, a silent trail urging them forward into whatever mystery lay ahead.
