Swampy Land

Ben pictured it—an adult predator slipping from the swamp’s edge, claws scraping soil, teeth glinting in moonlight. His sheep would have seen it instantly, sensed danger. Chickens would scatter at the faintest shadow. He clenched his jaw. That night wasn’t random, wasn’t luck. The animals had been warning him. But about what exactly? No normal alligator could account for this. Something larger was at play.
