Elise lowered herself to the floor, collecting her thoughts. Then she remembered the repeated sequence. The numbers 8-2-9-1 had appeared in the letter, the recording, and the notes upstairs.
She had ignored them before. Now they returned clearly. Her focus sharpened. Perhaps this sequence was not random but intentionally placed for this moment.
