As the last of the crowd wandered away, Julia tugged David’s hand. “Don’t leave yet,” she said quietly. “Something isn’t right.” David hesitated, glancing at the path, then back at her.
The hippo squealed again, flipping hard enough to send ripples across the pond. His chest tightened. “You think it’s… trying to say something?” Julia nodded. “Yes. I think it’s calling for help.”
