David reached for Julia’s hand. She looked surprised but happy, tilting her head curiously. “What’s going on?” she asked. He forced his voice steady. “There’s something I’ve been meaning to ask you.”
Her eyes widened as he pulled out the small black box. Julia gasped, hand flying to her mouth. Time froze. David could hardly breathe as he prepared.
