Bob grabbed his tackle box and stepped away from his spot, drawn by curiosity and a hint of concern. As he pushed through the thick grass between ponds, the noise grew even sharper.
The sound seemed almost urgent, echoing out over the water. Bob’s nerves prickled as he kept moving toward it.
