Harold’s mind reeled. He asked what he had done wrong. But the manager barely looked up from his papers. “There was a complaint,” he muttered, but that sounded like an excuse the man made up to get rid of him.
Harold knew nobody had ever complained about him. He was well-liked by everyone, a familiar and trusted face.
