The second night felt harder. It was colder than usual. The other lions slept indoors, curled together for warmth. But Leo stayed on his wooden platform, not shifting at all.
A single light flickered above him, casting moving shadows over his golden mane. It made him look unusually still as he stared straight ahead, in the cold air.
